Women Non-Slap Shot League

Hockey Extreme is offering one women’s-only hockey league for the 2025 summer season non-slap shot intermediate division. Appropriate players are competent skaters who may have either aged gracefully and lost some of their skills and speed, taken a hiatus from hockey, or were previously ringette players or figure skaters. This player has a general or better knowledge of the game, but needs to improve on skills such as puck handling, shooting, and positional play. Players are of all ages and eager to have fun in a friendly, respectful, and competitive way. There are no slap shots allowed in this division.

Our goal is to create a fun hockey atmosphere with players of a similar skill level. The league reserves the right to ask players who are significantly higher or too low to stop playing. Not allowed are senior A-AA, current or recently graduated university players, or new-to-skating beginners.

Note: No “byes” this summer - all teams play each week.

Category: Adults (30+ years old as of Dec 31/2025, Women, Intermediate Rec)

Dates: Tuesdays from May 20 to August 12, 2024 including July 1st (13 games)

Location: Leaside Arena (new pad)

Times: 7pm / 8pm / 9pm / 10pm (we strive to create a balanced schedule, ensuring each team plays roughly the same number of games at each time slot)

Cost: $4,775 + HST per Team ($5,395 total - Team Manager registers the entire team) OR $445 + HST per individual ($500 total)

Registration

Please note the following details before registering:

  • Team Members: All players must be at least 30 years old (as of Dec. 31, 2025) and be at the non-slapshot intermediate skill level (if you have a player you want to discuss because of age or skill level, just reach out to David). All players from Summer 2024 are grandfathered in.

  • Team Size: A Team Manager may register a maximum of 18 skaters + 1 goalie OR you may register as an individual (see below).

  • Conveners: Hockey Extreme will supply a Convener who will be at the rink each night to monitor game play, code of ethics, safety, and fair play. The convener’s primary responsibility is to serve as the organizer and administrator carrying out the preliminary and follow-up tasks that ensure the process proceeds smoothly. Basically, the convenor is there to work with refs and players to help everyone get along and have a fun night of hockey.

  • Refund Policy: Refunds will be administered only if the government or Leaside arena shuts down the arena and we can no longer operate the league.
